In July 1995, President Clinton signed the Clearcut Timber Rider into law and in the process paved the way for logging trucks to:
Enter environmentally sensitive areas and destroy ancient, green ecosystems under the pretense of helping forest health.
Run over all other environmental laws (the Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, etc., are all suspended under the rider).
Bypass citizen oversight (the rider takes the public out of the process).
A repeal of this wretched law should have been easy.
I elected Clinton in '92 because he said he cared about the environment and the future. Despite countless promises, his administration has let us down time and again.
