VIRGINIA BEACH - Bayside (1-4, 1-4) took advantage of big plays and two fumbles to upset the Dolphins (4-2, 3-2) in a Beach District game. In the second quarter with the score tied at 7, Ocean Lakes fumbled at its own 30, and Phillip Potts scored from 16 yards out for a 13-7 lead. Ocean Lakes fumbled the ensuing kickoff, recovered by Lawrence Hairston, leading to Kevin Sherwood's 25-yard field goal. The Marlins (1-4, 1-4) put the game away with Lenny Walden's 83-yard score in the final quarter.

PORTSMOUTH - Michael Ponds' 6-yard touchdown reception from Kevin Jones with 3:49 left in the third quarter broke a scoreless tie in the Greyhounds' homecoming victory. James Lavender scored Norcom's second touchdown on a 10-yard run with 3:01 left in the game. He finished with 202 yards on 28 carries. Jones was 9 of 17 for 112 yards for the Greyhounds. Norcom played without running back Taron Anderson, who missed practice all this week with a shoulder injury.

NORFOLK - The Bookers energized a crowd of nearly 4,000 at the opening of their new stadium with three quick jolts. On Wilson's first play from scrimmage, Demetrius Scott laid out President receiver Mohanda Whitfield for a one-yard loss. On Booker T's first offensive play, Dominic Perry hit Dennis Anderson with a 51-yard touchdown pass. And two plays later, Anderson made the first of his three interceptions and returned it 41 yards for a touchdown.

VIRGINIA BEACH - The Cavaliers celebrated homecoming by converting a pair of first-quarter fumbles into touchdowns to upend the Sun Devils. Marcel Howard returned a Roscoe Coles fumble 16 yards for a 14-0 Princess Anne (2-4, 2-3 Beach) lead. The earlier miscue culminated in a 17-yard scoring toss from David Johnson to quarterback Aaron Mitchell. Johnson took the handoff from Mitchell, heading for an apparent sweep, then punched the ball back to the quarterback for a 7-0 lead.

Maury 7

NORFOLK - Marcus Doxle rushed for 119 yards to rally the Truckers. Greg Trotter ran 30 yards up the middle giving Maury a 7-0 lead. But Churchland's Donta Britt returned the second-half kickoff to midfield, leading to Doxle's score from 18 yards out. After holding Maury, Churchland (5-1, 2-1) drove 85 yards in 13 plays, capped by quarterback Brandon Hall's 15-yard TD. Fareed Nelson recovered a Trucker fumble at midfield with 2:18 remaining, but Maury followed with a sack, fumble and incomplete pass.

VIRGINIA BEACH - Shawn Gibbs, who ran for 136 yards on 21 carries, scored on a 7-yard run with 1:31 left to play as Cox won its first homecoming game in eight years and spoiled the Knights' upset bid. The lead changed hands four times in the second half despite the Falcons (4-2, 3-2) controlling the ground game with a 306-59 advantage in rushing yards.

First Colonial 14 (OT)

VIRGINIA BEACH - Larron Jones scored from 7 yards out in the first overtime to lead the Stallions to the upset. Jones finished the game with 70 yards and a pair of touchdowns for Green Run (3-3, 3-2). Dione Olds was gang-tackled at the 1-yard line on fourth down in the overtime to end First Colonial's (3-3, 2-3) chances. Olds ended the game with 89 yards on 16 carries. Arsha Gilchrist ran the second half kickoff back 95 yards for a touchdown to stake the Stallions to a 14-7 lead. Dorman Miner scored from the one to tie it at 14-14.

CHESAPEAKE - Kevin Knight scored on runs of 38, 38 and 30 yards and the Cavaliers' ground game dominated the second half. Lakeland (5-1, 2-1 Southeastern) gained 257 of its 363 yards rushing after halftime. Daryl Mizelle led with 130 yards on nine attempts. Knight finished with 129 yards on seven carries. Area rushing leader Travis Rawls ran for 91 yards on 18 tries. The Hawks fell to 0-6, 0-3.

Great Bridge 7

CHESAPEAKE - Oscar Smith's Lavar Griffin threw for 133 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead the Tigers (3-3, 2-1). Griffin - the area's fourth leading passer - connected for passes of 35 and 18 yards to Latron Cox and Marcus Burton. The Wildcats (0-6, 0-3) scored on a 73-yard interception return by Bryant Lawrence.

POQUOSON - Three Indians rushed for 100 yards as Southampton (6-0, 3-0 Bay Rivers), ranked second in the state Group AA poll, stayed unbeaten. Arthur Porter led the Indians with 136 yards on eight carries. He scored on fourth-quarter runs of 51 and 2 yards. Rico Ivey added 112 yards rushing and two touchdowns and Torrey Goodwin ran for 106 yards and three first-half scores.

NORFOLK - James Whitley scored on two fumble recoveries and rushed for another touchdown to lead the Pilots. Whitley also completed 6 of 12 passes for 159 yards and touchdowns to to David Martin (47 yards) and Eric Hines (37). Larry Austin rushed for 160 yards on 26 carries with touchdown runs of 23 and 5 yards. Richard Griffin added a 3-yard score for the Pilots (3-3, 2-1).

RICHMOND - The Gators ran for 326 yards and never trailed. Tommy Keiper led the running attack for Greenbrier Christian (2-5) with 140 yards and two touchdowns. Ryan Hudgins also scored on two runs and Lance Wright gained 101 yards on 28 carries.

FRANKLIN - Jermaine Burke ran for 179 yards and three touchdowns as the Panthers (6-0, 3-0 Bay Rivers) came from behind in the fourth quarter. The Broncos (3-3, 2-1) led briefly when Diron Newsome scored on a 2-yard run midway through the third quarter and Xavier Scott passed to Antonio Graham for the conversion and an 8-7 advantage.

EASTVILLE - Milton Custis, Sam Ames and Erico Trower scored two touchdowns each for the Yellow Jackets (7-0, 2-0 Eastern Shore).

WINDSOR - L.D. Brown led a 407-yard ground attack with 162 yards on 18 carries, scored a touchdown and hooked up with Michael Bell on another for Charles City.

MARYVILLE - Quarterback Bland Pope scored a pair of touchdowns, rushed for 91 yards and threw for 73 to spark the Raiders (6-1).
