Amy Pongonis was named marketing coordinator for Hanbury Evans Newill Vlattas, architects and planners in Norfolk. She formerly taught for the Norfolk public school system.

Darva Gruber and Evelyn Danico were promoted to senior representatives for Transworld Systems Inc. in Virginia Beach. Todd Gasparik was promoted to regional trainer. All three were formerly account executives.
ENGINEERING
Samuel K. Estep was named a structural engineer at Clark Nexsen in Norfolk. He previously worked for AES Consulting Engineers in Williamsburg where he served as head of the structural engineering department.
Jacqueline J. Sharples was named director of marketing at the Spectra Group Inc. in Virginia Beach. She was previously marketing coordinator for Sutton-Kennerly & Associates, an engineering design firm in Greensboro, N.C.
HEALTH CARE
Dr. Otarod Bahrani, Dr. Sameh A. Basta, Dr. Judith P. Brown, Dr. David Castaldo, Dr. Nicola Davies, Dr. Stefan Gravenstein, Dr. M. Elizabeth Mason, Dr. Laura E. Post, Dr. Douglas C. Powers, Dr. Margo L. Schilling, Dr. Jeffrey Scott and Dr. Lisa P. Stevens have joined the department of internal medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School as faculty physicians. They will teach and provide patient care through EVMS Health Services.
Dr. Mark W. Jenison, a dermatologist, is practicing at the Sentara Medical Group, NDC Medical Center, Norfolk. He was chief resident of UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill, N.C.
Dr. Anthony J. Quaranta, a pulmonologist, is also practicing at the Sentara Medical Group, NDC Medical Center. He completed his fellowship in pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia.
Dr. Susan S. Kim-Foley, a family practice physician, is practicing at the Sentara Medical Group, Family Practice Specialists, First Colonial. She was staff physician at Audubon Health Group, Amherst, N.Y., and clinical assistant professor, Department of Family Medicine at State University of New York.
MUSEUMS
The Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation in Williamsburg appointed Richard T. White facilities manager. He will be responsible for overseeing capital projects and the maintenance of physical facilities. He was previously capital outlay project manager at Christopher Newport University.
Also, Jennifer Mullen was named media relations specialist at the foundation. She was a staff writer at Temple University News Bureau in Philadelphia.
And, James S. Holloway was promoted to outreach education supervisor. He was a traveling teacher in the Foundation's outreach education program.
ORGANIZATIONS
Gerald H. Gwaltney, Isle of Wight County Commissioner of Revenue, was installed as president of the Virginia Association of Local Elected Constitutional Officers.
REAL ESTATE
John D. Rorer was appointed corporate controller at O&R Inc., a Virginia Beach development and construction firm and its affiliated companies. Also, Martha Bond was promoted to director of customer service and administration.
Bill Crespo was named sales manager at Rose & Krueth Realty Corp. in Portsmouth. He was formerly with Century 21 in Northern Virginia and the Hampton Roads area.
RETIREMENT
Charles N. Starbranch was named chief financial officer of Westminster-Canterbury in Virginia Beach. Prior to this, he was treasurer and chief financial officer at the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain, Conn.
TECHNOLOGY
Timothy R. Barry was named product marketing director with Consulting Associates in Chesapeake. He was previously an instructor in the College of Engineering and Technology at Old Dominion University.
