Esther Viola Smith, 71, of the 2800 block of Barclay Ave., died Oct. 12, 1996, in her residence.
A native of Wise County, Va., she was the widow of Norwood E. Smith.
Survivors include two sisters, Opal Lewis of Bluefield, Va. and Ruth Hileman of Manassas, Va.; two brothers, Jack Buckner of Chesapeake and Floyd McReynolds of Bluefield; and a grandchild.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Tom Potter. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, is handling arrangements.
