LEROY A. WESCOTT SR.

Leroy Allen Wescott Sr., known as ``Pinkey'' and ``Wessie'', 48, of the 1400 block of Lois Lane, died Wednesday Oct. 9, 1996, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

A native of Norfolk, he was the son of Octavia Randolph Wescott and the late Jeff M. Wescott Sr. He was a gear room attendant for the International Longshoreman Association Local 1248 for 27 years. He was a member of Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church. Leroy was a graduate of Norview High School and attended Norfolk State University. He was a Marine Corps veteran and had also served over 18 years in the Marine Corps Reserves. He was a member of Malachi Lodge (NU)136, Prince Hall F. & A.M. Masons.

Survivors include a daughter, Shylisle D. Wescott; a son, Leroy A. Wescott Jr.; four adopted sons, Darnell Grant, Michael Augustus, Jevon Augustus, Jermel Augustus; two sisters, Helen Wescott Smith, Mildred Wescott Cooper; two adopted sisters, Audrey L. Pierce, Karen Theresa Smith; and a brother, Jeff M. Wescott Jr. He will be sadly missed by a loving fiancee, Linda M. Augustus; godmother, Mrs. Gloria Jenkins; two god daughters, Mrs. Karen Newman and Donnita Gary; also a host of other nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral will be held at noon Saturday in Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church by Father Walter C. Barrett. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. A Christian wake will be held at 7 p.m. Friday. The family will assemble at the Riddick Funeral Service at 11:15 a.m. Saturday for the procession to the church. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
