Kenneth Q. Poynter Sr., 76, of Open Greens Court, died Oct. 15, 1996, in Norfolk.
Mr. Poynter was the owner of Poynter Television for 18 years and was retired. He was in the U.S. Navy for 22 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a Methodist and a native of London, Ky.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Johnie Woolbright Poynter; daughters, Margaret Newth of Brandon, Fla., and Judy Poynter-Sullivan of Lafayette, Colo.; a stepdaughter, Trena Ferebee of Virginia Beach; a son, Kenneth Q. Poynter Jr. of Broomfield, Colo.; stepsons, Boyce Woolbright of Columbia, Md., and Dennis Woolbright of Virginia Beach; a brother, Brock Poynter of Louisville, Ky.; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Rosewood Memorial Park, Virginia Beach. Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, is in charge. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Military honors will be accorded at the grave. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
