Clifton Dewey Murphy, 77, of the 400 block of Baldwin St., died Oct. 15, 1996, in Virginia Beach General Hospital.
A native of Pittsylvania, Va., Mr. Murphy recently retired after 25 years as owner of Murphy Brothers Seafood. He was a Presbyterian. He received the Purple Heart and landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Kreger Murphy; and other loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Odell Murphy, who died during the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium. In addition to Odell, he was predeceased by a sister, Eva Devlin, and four other brothers, Lloyd, Raymond, Herman and Jack Murphy.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel.
