Lily Eva James Creekmore Young, 78, formerly of Portsmouth, died July 31, 1996 in Memorial Hospital, after a long illness.
She was born in Hopewell, Va., on Oct. 18, 1917, the daughter of the late John C. James and Beulah Midgett James Wilcox.
She was raised in Portsmouth, a member of Broad St. Methodist Church, and attended Woodrow Wilson High School.
Surviving are a sister, Ora Bernidene James of Strasburg, Va.; a daughter, Sandra C. Watson of Nichols, S.C.; a granddaughter, Tara M. Harrell of Adrian, Mich.; a grandson, Jay W. Watson Jr. of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside memorial services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in Evergreen Memorial Park, Portsmouth, with the Rev. Catherine Pigg of Broad St. Methodist Church officiating.
