A 64-foot motor cruiser, taking on water Wednesday morning in the Chesapeake Bay, was saved with the help of a passing fishing boat and later escorted to safety by the Coast Guard.
The Marie Antoinette, with two people aboard, was flooding about 15 miles north of Milford Haven, or seven miles from the mouth of the Rappahanock River, when it radioed for help, said Coast Guard spokesmen in Portsmouth.
A fishing vessel, the Bay Lady, initially went to the yacht's aid, passing the crew an extra pump. A Coast Guard H-60 helicopter from Elizabeth City, plus a Navy helicopter and other rescue vessels, also responded.
A 41-foot utility boat from the Coast Guard's station at Milford Haven escorted the Marie Antoinette to a mooring at Wicomico.
