James Robert ``Jimmy'' Casper, 69, of Route 1, died Thursday Oct. 17, 1996, in his home.
Mr. Casper was born in Gates County. The son of the late John Thomas and Mrs. Corrie Matthews Casper, he had retired from the North Carolina Dept. of Transportation after 22 years of service. He was a member of Warwick Baptist Church.
Surviving is his wife, Mary Ellen Parks Casper; two sons, Kenneth Casper and his wife, Paula, of Sunbury, and Terry Casper of Manns Harbor, N.C.; four sisters, Venelle Morgan and her husband, Ernest, of Hertford, Doris Blanchard and her husband, Aloise, of Hobbsville, Gladys Copeland and her husband, Valand Jr., of Chesapeake, and Louise Winslow and her husband, Jarvis, of Suffolk; two brothers, Luther Casper and his wife, Sara, of Corapeake and Waverly Casper and his wife, Ann, of Ahoskie; and four grandsons, Travis, Brett, Jonathan and Matthew Casper.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Warwick Baptist Church by the Rev. Tom Hupp. Burial will follow in the Bunch Family Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, in charge of arrangements. Friends may join the family at the residence. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chowan Hospital Foundation for HeartBond, P.O. Box 629, Edenton, N.C. 27932.
