Letter writer Rick Rice (Oct. 13) had it right when he said, ``Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me,'' but he was talking about the wrong guy. Bob Dole is trying to emulate Ronald Reagan with his 15 percent tax cut across the board.
Reagan is the guy who got us into this mess in the first place with his tax cuts and heavy defense spending. His deregulations got us the S&L and junk-bond fiascos and encouraged greed to its highest form. The American people will be paying off those mistakes for a long time.
I don't think that Mr. Dole is fooling anybody but himself.
