VIRGINIA W. TURNER

Virginia Anne Wilson Turner, 85, died Oct. 17, 1996, in Riverside Regional Medical Center.

She was a native of Isle of Wight County and retired in 1974 from Contel as a secretary with 14 years of service. Mrs Turner was a member of Smithfield Baptist Church and Lelia Minton Brock Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Ruth Rebekah Lodge, Smithfield, and attended Riverside Convalescent Center, Smithfield, Daycare Program.

Survivors include two daughters, Joanne T. Carroll and her husband, Raymond W. Carroll of Smithfield and Kaye T. Godwin and her husband, Fred W. Godwin of Smithfield; five granddaughters and a grandson; a great-granddaughter and three great-grandsons; and a special friend, Bettye G. Hall.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Smithfield Baptist Church by Dr. Donald R. Rhoton. Burial will follow in Ivy Hill Cemetery, Smithfield. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield.
