TEX R. MERCER

Tex Rickard Mercer, 73, of the 1900 block of Savin Road died Oct. 18, 1996, in Albemarle Hospital.

He was a native of Kinston and a retired insurance adjustor. Mr. Mercer was a Mason and attended the Bayview Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy, and was a son of the late Ashley and Mrs. Estelle Kennedy Mercer.

He is survived by a son, Rickard M. Mercer of Southern Shores, N.C.; a brother, Bryan Mercer of Laurel, Del.; a sister, Ella Dietrich of Seattle; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Twiford's Memorial Chapel, Elizabeth City. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk, at a later date. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and also will assemble at Twiford's Funeral Home, Church St., at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
