HUGH E. MORTON JR.

Hugh E. ``Eddie'' Morton Jr., 38, died suddenly in his sleep, Oct. 15, 1996, while on a hunting trip in Colorado.

Eddie leaves behind his loving wife, Terry Cannon Morton, who he adored and cherished; two wonderful stepsons, Keil Jones of Chapel Hill, N.C., Crispin Jones of Athens, Ga.; his parents, Margie C. and Hugh E. Morton Sr.; three aunts; five uncles; and many cousins that will miss him tremendously. Eddie had many wonderful close friends, especially Mike Albertson and Ed McPherson, his hunting buddies.

Eddie was born in San Diego, Calif., then lived in Chesapeake, and for the last 14 happy years made his home in Camden, N.C., his ``paradise.'' He was a Norfolk Naval Shipyard Graduate Apprentice, where he was employed for the last 16 years as a metals inspector. He was an avid sportsman, loved to hunt and fish, an excellent marksman and archer, a lifetime member of the N.R.A., a union member of the Metal Trades Council and an Eagle Scout. Eddie was an exceptional person and outstanding citizen, who truly enjoyed life and loved his family and friends dearly. All who loved Eddie are deeply saddened by his untimely death.

A church service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church by the Rev. William Pitt, followed by a reception in the Church Commons. The family will receive friends at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Colonial Ave., Norfolk, Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the American Red Cross. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
