John W. Wilson, 90, of Virginia Beach, a retired soil conservationist with the U.S. government, died Oct. 16, 1996.
Mr. Wilson was a native of Princess Anne County. He was a member of Nimmo United Methodist Church, Virginia Beach.
Mr. Wilson was a member of Nimmo United Methodist Church Board of Trustees, administrative board, and the choir. He was also a member of the Creeds Ruritan Club and was active in their fund-raising. Mr. Wilson was a member of the Virginia Beach Development Authority.
He was preceded in death by a son, Darrell R. Wilson; and two brothers, Thomas J. Wilson and George A. Wilson. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Etheridge Wilson; a daughter, Marilyn W. Peeler and her husband, Melvin A. Peeler, of Virginia Beach; a son, John W. Wilson and his wife, Judith R. Wilson, of Virginia Beach; a brother, Floyd P. Wilson and his wife, Edith L. Wilson, of Virginia Beach; a sister-in-Law, Bertie B. Wilson of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren, John W. Wilson Jr., Jeffrey W. Wilson, Melvin A. Peeler III, John C. Peeler and Kara E. Peeler.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. today in Nimmo United Methodist Church by the Rev. John Morris. Burial will be in Nimmo United Methodist Church Cemetery. Family received friends at the funeral home Friday. Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to the Capital Improvements Committee of Nimmo United Methodist Church. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road, is handling arrangements.
