CYNTHIA TAYLOR: PRINCIPAL PLANNER FOR SUFFOLK

Cynthia S. Taylor wants to be able to look back on Suffolk 10 years from now and be proud of what she sees.

``I would like to look back and see a city that has been developed and managed properly,'' Taylor said. ``I would like it to be an example'' for other parts of Hampton Roads.

As the recently hired chief planner in the city's Planning Department, she's in a position to influence Suffolk's future look.

Taylor, on board only a few months, has been engrossed in projects including reviewing subdivision plans, implementing a set of city Chesapeake Bay regulations and working with the Suffolk Wetlands Board.

Her favorite parts of Suffolk, she said, are the small villages that remind her of small-town America - places like Holland, Chuckatuck and Driver.
