I would like to thank your newspaper for the wonderful coverage you provided regarding the NAMES project quilt display in Washington. D.C. (``Pieces of Memories,'' Oct. 13). Your compassionate response and touching articles touched me deeply, as a man living with HIV infection.
I, too, have walked the many quilt panels in years past searching for loved ones, including my brother, who died of HIV/AIDS complications in 1992. Staff writer Steve Stone captured many aspects of this event that affect so many of us living with HIV infection and AIDS. Never have I been so proud to return home and read exactly what I had experienced.
We are all living with HIV and AIDS in one form or another, and as founder and co-chairman of the Hampton Roads AIDS Walk Foundation 1996, I encourage all to walk with us on Nov. 3 at Town Point Park in Norfolk and at the Queens Way Mall Area in Hampton, to further assist our community in raising needed funds for AIDS service organizations.
