CHARLES B. COLTRANE

Charles Benjamin Coltrane of the 3500 block of Bapaume Ave., died Saturday, Oct. 19, 1996 in DePaul Hospital.

He was born in Louisville, Ky., and was the son of the late Charles B. and Mary Josephine Troy Coltrane. Charles was the loving husband of Ruth Mae Spawn Coltrane, who survives. He was retired from the Norfolk District, Corps of Engineers after a total of 33 years as a civil service employee. He was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and was a Methodist by faith. He served in the Virginia National Guard.

Besides his loving wife, he is survived by a daughter, Marjorie Jo Coltrane Joynes of Suffolk; a son, Charles E. Coltrane of Greensboro, N.C.; a sister, Helen Coltrane McLean of Chesapeake; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a niece, Shirley M. Brinkley of Chesapeake.

Entombment services will be held Tuesday in the Mausoleum of Woodlawn Memorial Park at 1:30 p.m. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that memorial donations be made to the Heart Fund. Altmeyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
