Moses Whitehurst Sr. of the 1500 block of Beaver Dam Road, died Oct. 17, 1996 in DePaul Hospital.
Mr. Whitehurst was born in Norfolk County and was the widower of Thelma Whitehurst. He retired 13 years ago as a rigger from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 47 years of service. He was a member of Gabriel Chapel AMEZ Church, Long-ridge, Chesapeake.
Survivors include five daughters, Julia Whitehurst-Gregory, Tonya D. Whitehurst, Nedra W. Mosley, Lavinia W. Hardy of Chesapeake and Sylvia W. Gregory of Washington, D.C.; three sons, Army LTC Moses Whitehurst Jr. of Mitchellville, Md., Richard E. Fearing of Fayetteville, N.C., and Kishi D. Whitehurst of Richmond; six grandchildren; and many other surviving relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Gabriel Chapel AMEZ Church, Longridge, by the Rev. Cary Johnson. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. A family wake will be held in Fitchett Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
