CARL J. MORRIS

Carl James ``Moose'' Morris, 69, of the 4600 block of Dolly Madison Lane, died Oct. 19, 1996.

Born in Fitzgerald, Ga., he was a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. He retired in 1994 after 25 years of service with the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme, CA Division, Virginia Beach, and since then worked part time with EG&G, Washington, Analytical Service Center. He began his career as a representative of Sperry Gyroscope Company at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, followed by employment with Sperry Marine Systems Division in Charlottesville.

Mr. Morris saw service in World War II as a seaman in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Baylake United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Fawcett Morris; two daughters and their husbands, Susan Morris-Rollins and John Bruce Rollins of Hamilton, N.C., and Linda Morris Mann and Robert Ellis Mann Jr. of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Catherine Grace Rollins, Eric Robert Mann and Carl David Mann. He is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, George Allen Morris Jr. and Mary Alice Morris of Fitzgerald, Ga.; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenneth J. Fawcett Jr. and Audrey Fawcett of Falls Church, Va.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Allen Morris Sr. and Gladys Hyde Morris and a brother, Earl C. Morris, all of Fitzgerald, Ga.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. Ted David. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of choice.
