Helen J. Fields, 68, of the 1500 block of Darren Circle, died Oct. 18, 1996, in her residence.
Mrs. Fields was born in Portsmouth and was the widow of Nathan N. Fields Sr. She was a member of Centennial Baptist Church for more than 20 years and was a former treasurer and former member of the Female Usher Board.
Survivors include five daughters, Delores Hawkins, Geraldine Staton, Sharon Fields, all of Portsmouth, Helena Downing and Marva Bobo, both of Gaithersburg, Md.; three sons, Nathan N. Fields Jr. of Suffolk, Ronald Fields of Portsmouth and William Fields of Gaithersburg, Md.; two sisters, Thelma McCall and Doris Waddler, both of Portsmouth; a brother, John Collins; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sons-in-law; a daughter-in-law; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Centennial Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert L. Addison. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery. Fisher Funeral Home is in charge.
