Velma Stanley Walls, 85, of the 300 block of Blue Ridge St., died Oct. 19, 1996, in Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County.
Born in Franklin County July 12, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Stanley and Mary Katherine Craig Walls. She was the widow of Guy Milford Walls, and was also preceded in death by four sons, Guy Shackleford Walls, Roy Dixon Walls, Loyd Milford Walls and Baby Boy Walls. Mrs. Walls was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Surviving are nine daughters, Mary W. Dove of Martinsville, Martha Ellen Aguillard of Chula Vista, Calif., R. Elizabeth Martin of Piney Flats, Tenn., S. Alice Young of Goodview, June W. Hartman of Moyock, N.C., Nellie W. Bowles and Patty W. LeCount, both of Newport News, Linda W. Cooper of Williamsburg, Debra W. Dove of Martinsville; four sons, Bobby Ray Walls of Staunton, Wayne Stanley Walls of Hardy, George David Walls of Yorktown, Billy Sherman Walls of San Diego, Calif.; 35 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in McKee Funeral Chapel, Martinsville. Interment will be in the Dove Family Cemetery. The Rev. Francis Martin and the Rev. Terry Taylor will officiate. Family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, where she was a member.
