LEAH M. NEWSOME

Leah Melvina Newsome, 84, of the 100 block of Red Dirt Road, died Friday, Oct. 18, 1996.

She was the widow of Amos Roosevelt Newsome. Mrs. Newsome was a native of Washington, N.C., and the daughter of George and Irene Davis Caldwell. A Methodist, she was retired from the dietary department of the College of William and Mary.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Ann Newsome; a sister, Agnes E. Caldwell Pugh; nephews, Leon Cowell and Jerry Cowell; and a niece, Ernestine C. Alexander.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Whitting Funeral Home Chapel, 7345 Pocahontas Trail, by the Rev. Glenwood Morgan. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Riddick Funeral Service.
