Police have charged four men with abandoning a mobile home atop a barge that had been stuck on a sand bar at Ocean View since Oct. 10.
The barge ran aground, then was towed closer to shore to prevent it from blocking shipping lanes. But a weekend storm that pounded the mobile home left debris strewn on the shore.
Walter Dixon of Chesapeake, George Anderson of Virginia Beach, Chris Tomlinson of North Carolina and Louis Wiley of Hampton were charged with abandonment. Dixon, Anderson and Tomlinson also were charged with failure to properly mark and remove a wrecked vessel. Both charges are misdemeanors, police said. by CNB
