Maggie May Chappell, of the 3500 block of Argonne Ave., went to be with her Lord after 80 years of life on Oct. 20, 1996.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Benhamin L. Chappell Sr. and son, Harold L. Chappell Sr. She was a longtime member of the Rock Church and Agape Church, but was attending Chesapeake Church of God at the time of her death.
She is survived by two daughters, Velma Smith and her husband, Johnny, of Norfolk, Janice Jones and her husband, Bobby, of Wake Forest, N.C.; two sons, Ray Chappell and his companion, Jim Bateman, of Norfolk, Benjamin L. Chappell Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Suffolk; seven granddaughters, Evon Dyson of High Point, N.C., Teresa White of Chesapeake, Loraine Thibault of Italy, Amota Chappell of Gary, Ind., Marie Price of Wake Forest, Heather and Sarah Chappell of Virginia Beach; five grandsons, Harold Chappell Jr. of Gary, Daniel Chappell of Virginia Beach, Bobby Jones Jr., Ronald Jones, John Paul Jones, all of Wake Forest; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A chapel service will be held at noon today in Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel, by the Revs. Jack Sawyer, Pete Taylor, and a great-grandson, Jason. Burial will be at Rosewood Memorial Park.
