Nine alumni and staff members of Granby High School will become the first inductees into the school's Hall of Fame in a ceremony Nov. 2 in the Dominion Room at the Lake Wright Resort and Convention Center.
Those selected graduated or worked at Granby from 1939 to 1950 and distinguished themselves at the school and later in life.
The inductees are:
Charles ``Lefty'' Driesell, 1950, a basketball player and nationally recognized college coach.
Henry ``Hank'' Foiles, 1947, sports star and major league baseball catcher.
Lemuel Francis Games, Granby's first principal, 1939-44.
Barney Gill, 1947, sports star, coach and military officer.
Edwin L. Lamberth, principal from 1944-49 and former superintendent of Norfolk schools.
William ``Billy'' Martin, nationally known wrestling coach and member of National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
Thomas W. Moss, 1946, speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates.
Charles ``Chuck'' Stobbs, 1947, sports star and major league baseball pitcher.
William Story Jr., football coach and former superintendent of South Norfolk schools.
