CAMILLA JOHNSON

Ms. Camilla Johnson, a native of Seaboard, departed this life on Monday Oct. 21, 1996.

She retired from the Portsmouth Naval Hospital after 31 years of service. Ms. Johnson was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church for 45 years. There she served in the Ebenezer Social Club and the Mid-week Missionary Circle. Besides her church-related activities, she was a member of the Cassandra Tent Number 139 of the United Order of Tents where she served as past senior matron.

Left to mourn her passing are two sons, Johnnie R. Johnson of Elizabeth City, Matthew T. Lassiter of Raleigh; four grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; two nieces; and a devoted nephew, Dr. Oscar Scott Jr. Her survivors also include 11 great-nieces; six great-nephews; three great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Dr. Barbara L. Johnson of Elizabeth City; a sister-in-law, Pearleen Johnson of Portsmouth; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Rev. Ben A. Beamer Sr. officiating. The family will assemble at 1215 Nero Drive, Portsmouth. Fisher Funeral Home is in charge. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park.
