MARGIE B. POARCH

Margie Bernice Poarch of the 3100 block of S. Cape Henry Ave. died Oct. 20, 1996, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

A native of Tarboro, N.C., Ms. Poarch was a member of First Baptist Church, Lamberts Point, Norfolk. She was a shortshoreman for Local 1458 I.L.A.

Survivors include her daughters, Phyllis Poarch of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Christina Sherrif of Norfolk; a son, Michael Poarch of Norfolk; her mother, Mary Archer Pender of Norfolk; sisters, Patricia Hodges of Chesapeake and Justina Mosley of Virginia Beach; brothers, Rayfield Archer, Allen Archer, Benjamin Pender Jr., George Pender, all of Norfolk, and Maurice Bowles of Fort Ervin, Calif.; a grandchild, Michael Poarch Jr. of Norfolk; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Saturday in First Baptist Church by the Rev. Anthony Paige. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, is in charge. The remains will be ready for viewing at 4 p.m. Friday. The remains will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. The family will assemble at the residence for the procession at 11 a.m.
