Margaret W. Barbee, 90, died Oct. 22, 1996.
She was a graduate of East Carolina University and was a retired schoolteacher. The widow of James R. Barbee Sr., she was a native of Pasquotank County, N.C., and a member of Tabernacle Church of Norfolk.
Survivors include her son, James R. Barbee Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Columbus; sisters, Irene Pittman of Norfolk and Evelyn Clary and her husband, Elmo, of South Hill, Va.; a brother, W. Frank Williams and his wife, Hazel, of South Mills, N.C.; grandchildren, Patricia Jackson and her husband, Dan, of Toledo, Ohio, Susan Grabinski and her husband, Gene, of Elmhurst, Ill., Thomas Barbee and his wife, Lori, of Baton Rouge, La., and Kenneth Barbee and his wife, Michele, of Philadelphia; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Etheridge Williams; her father, Frank Nixon Williams; three sisters, Selma Williams, Madge Brantley and Elizabeth Powell; and her son, George F. Barbee.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel by the Rev. Richard H. Hardison. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
