LAWYERS, LAWYERS EVERYWHERE

More and more, I am becoming alarmed at the increasing power of the legal profession.

(a) Lawyers dominate the state and national legislative bodies. They enact our laws.

(b) Lawyers defend and prosecute these same laws.

(c) Judges are always appointed from the legal profession.

I have no problem with (b) - this is what the legal profession is trained and licensed to do. My problem is with (a) and (c), the dominance of the legislature and judiciary. One profession making our laws, defending and prosecuting these laws and passing judgment based on these laws.

Our legislative body should be made up of a cross-section of the population as a whole. This is the only way to ensure laws that are for the good of all and not for the selected few.
