Ollie Sawyer Sawyer, 84, of the 700 block of Gainsborough Court died Friday, Oct. 25, 1996, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Sawyer was born in Columbia, N.C., the daughter of the late Walter C. Sawyer and Mary Elizabeth Meekins Godwin and the widow of Ernest Lloyd Sawyer. Mrs. Sawyer was a member of Chesapeake First Church of the Nazarene, Great Bridge Senior Citizens and Cambridge Square Senior Citizens.
Survivors include her son, Harold Lloyd Sawyer of Norfolk; her daughter, Frances Louise Benson of Hertford, N.C.; her sister, Mary Elizabeth Liverman of Shiloh, N.C.; two grandchildren, Tammy Spruill Call and Thomas Ray Benson; two step-grandchildren, Robert F. Michael and Vernon D. Michael; and a great-grandchild, Jayme Blake Call.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28, 1996, in Chesapeake First Church of the Nazarene, 1134 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, by the Rev. Fred W. Bates IV. Interment will be at 2 p.m. in Azalea Memorial Gardens, Columbia. Viewing will begin Sunday and friends may join the family in Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, from 4 to 6 p.m.
