NSU STUDENT SHOT

A 20-year-old Norfolk State University student was in critical condition Saturday night after being shot near his home, police said.

The victim's name was being withheld until relatives could be notified.

The shooting occurred about 1:10 a.m. in the 2700 block of Myrtle Ave., police said.

Witnesses told police that the student had earlier been involved in an altercation with two men at his home. Initially, the men left. But they returned a short time later and the shooting occurred.

The pair were last seen driving away in a 1986 or 1987 white Hundai with a luggage rack on the back. Witnesses said the vehicle had a ``bad paint job.''

The first suspect is described as black, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 145 pounds with medium dreadlocks and wearing a black leather jacket. The other suspect is described as black, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 155 pounds with a medium-length Afro.
