Jon Summerton has resigned as general manager of the Lost Colony outdoor drama after guiding the production for three years.
The Roanoke Island Historical Association, which produces the drama, said it has launched a search for a replacement. The association said Summerton resigned to accept a position in the private sector, effective Nov. 15.
Summerton came to the Lost Colony in August 1993, after serving as president of Dakatoh Inc., in South Dakota.
``I have thoroughly enjoyed my tenure at The Lost Colony,'' said Summerton. ``I think the organization has made great progress over the past three years and has a lot of positive momentum that will help the association move forward.''
Said RIHA chairman Thomas L. White Jr., ``When Jon first came on board, we developed a set of goals for implementation of management and operational tools that would carry us successfully into the next century. Jon certainly met and exceeded those goals and he leaves us with a professional staff and new policies and procedures that benefit us greatly. We wish him well in his future endeavors.''
The association has formed a search committee and will begin the search process for a qualified replacement immediately. by CNB
