Herman A. Smalls Jr., 42, of the 4100 block of Lakeview Drive, died Oct. 25, 1996, in Maryview Hospital, Portsmouth.
A native of Charleston, S.C., Mr. Smalls retired from the U.S. Navy as a chief petty officer after 20 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda D. Smalls of Chesapeake; sons Dominique A. Smalls, U.S. Navy, USS Briscoe, and Kevin J. Smalls of Chesapeake; his mother, Lillian E. Smalls of Charleston; two sisters; three brothers; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday. The body will be cremated. Memorial services will be private. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
