Gladys DuBose Powers, 100, a resident of Wesleyan Arms Retirement Center died Friday, Oct. 25, 1996, in her home.
She was born Oct. 20, 1896, in LaMar, S.C., a daughter of Robert Lee and Emma King DuBose. She had been a resident of High Point since 1986. She was a member of Norview Baptist Church, Norfolk. In 1918, she was married to James Frank Powers, who preceded her in death on Sept. 2, 1965. She also was preceded in death by a brother, James Frank Powers Jr.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Marge P. Black of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a son, Robert Carrol Powers of Gulfport, Fla.; two grandchildren, Gail B. Hutheson and D. Michael Black, both of High Point; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and interment will be at 3 p.m. today in LaMar Cemetery. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Chapel of Wesleyan Arms, High Point. Memorials may be directed to Norview Baptist Church, 1127 Norview Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23513.
