Leon Bennett Royal, 65, of 58 Hubbard Place, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 1996, at his home.
He lived in Virginia Beach for 33 years. He was a native of Sampson County, the son of the late Alexander W. Royal. He was area manager for General Electric Supply.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lou Alice Sawyer Royal of the home; a daughter, Miss Caprise Royal of Arlington, Va.; a son, Scott Whitney Royal of Washington, D.C.; his mother, Mrs. Oleta Porter Royal of Salemburg; two brothers, Charles Maurice Royal and Alexander Thomas Royal, both of Salemburg.
The family recieved friends Sunday at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro, and at other times will be at the home. The funeral service was Monday at First Baptist Church, Clinton, with Dr. David Kolb and the Rev. Larry Harper officiating. Burial was in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Salemburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 407 Ray Ave., Fayetteville, N.C. 28301.
