WILLIAM R. MOORE

William Robert Moore, 78, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 1996. A native of Norfolk, he had been a Hampton resident for 50 years.

Mr. Moore was a Catholic and had graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Norfolk and Belmont Abbey College with a bachelor's degree. He served with the Third Marine Division in World War II and worked in cost accounting at the Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock company retiring in 1976 after 38 years. He was comptroller for Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Employees Credit Union, retiring in 1980, and was a charter member of Williamsburg Country Club and served as treasurer.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn H. Moore; two sons, Wesley R. Moore and John R. Moore, both of Hampton; two brothers, R.R. Moore Jr. and his wife, Margie, of Virginia Beach, Charles M. Moore and his wife, Pearl, of Newport News; three grandsons, Nathan, Ronnie, Noa; and a granddaughter, Meaghan Moore.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home by the Rev. Joseph Majewski and the Rev. Richard W. Lund. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Association, 20 Kroger Executive Center, Suite 233, Norfolk, Va. 23502.
