Jennie E. Chase of the 8500 block of Devon St. passed away Oct. 28, 1996, at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital after a brief illness.
Mrs. Chase was born in Dartmouth, Mass., and lived in the Tidewater area for 18 years. She was employed as a school crossing guard for the Norfolk Police Department for 12 years.
Mrs. Chase was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Jones Sr. and Margaret Brady Jones of Dartmouth. She is survived by her husband, Harold A. Chase of Norfolk; three sons, Kenneth Burns Jr. and his wife, Kate, of Newport, R.I., Wayne Chase and his wife, Fran, of Norfolk, and Sandy E. Chase of Norfolk; four grandchildren; and five sisters, Dorothy Costa and Helen M. Leach of New Bedford, Mass., Grace Gragani of California, Alice Clouch and Florence Santos of Chesapeake; two brothers, Clarence H. Jones Jr. and James W. Jones of Massachusetts; and several nieces and nephews. Jennie Chase leaves behind many friends and she will be missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
