SAMUEL L. MORRIS

Samuel Lee ``Sammy'' Morris entered the joy of the Lord Wednesday, Oct. 23, 1996. Samuel had rededicated his life to the Lord prior to departing this life.

Sammy Lee was a native of Durham, N.C., and he resided in Portsmouth. He was the son of the late Johnnie Morris Sr. and Sallie H. Morris. Mr. Morris served in the U.S. Army from April 24, 1964, to March 23, 1981.

Mr. Morris was employed at Bill Lewis Chevrolet Body Shop in Chesapeake. Previously, he worked at Action Oldsmobile, also in Portsmouth. His dedication to the companies will be long remembered.

Sammy Lee leaves to cherish his joyful memory four brothers, Johnnie Jr., Alfred and James, all of Durham, and Dennis of Newport News; four sisters, Faye and Peggy Morris of Durham, Mrs. Glenda Morgan of Creedmoor, N.C., and Mrs. Gloria Eleby of Newport News; two brothers-in-law, and two sisters-in-law; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Morris was known to be a free-hearted and kind person who was well thought of. He had a wonderful sense of humor and everyone who knew him enjoyed being around him. His departure is no reason for sorrow, but reason for rejoicing because he is ``absent from the body, present with the Lord.''

The family and friends will meet Saturday at 2 p.m. in Pleasant Shade Cemetery, Shell Road, Hampton, for a graveside service, rendered by the family. The family can be contacted at 885 Cheyenne Drive, Newport News. Funeral preparations were handled by Franklin Funeral Home, Newport News.
