Some 500 U.S. Air Force and Army members will participate in a military training exercise with their Egyptian counterparts over the next three weeks, the Pentagon announced on Tuesday.
The exercise, dubbed Iron Cobra '97, is supposed to improve readiness and cooperation between U.S. and Egyptian forces, and `` `demonstrates the United States' commitment to the security and stability of the Gulf region,'' the Pentagon said in a statement.
The exercise will take place in Egypt and is the seventh in a series of such training exercises. It will conclude by Nov. 17, the Pentagon said. by CNB
