ADELL NICHOLS

Mrs. Adell Nichols, 66, of the 10300 block of Skyline Drive, departed this life on Oct. 28, 1996, in Norfolk Sentara Hospital.

A native of Westfield, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Roger Nichols and Lillian Patterson Nichols. She was preceded in death by a son, Stanley Nichols; a sister, Maurice Colbert and two brothers, Rojer Nichols and William Nichols.

Mrs. Nichols was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church, Ivor, and its senior and missionary choirs.

Survivors include her seven daughters, Lillian Pemberton and Iris Holland, both of Portsmouth, Diane Walker of Newport News, LaRosa Thomas of Wakefield, Rosa Heywood and Carolyn Brooks, both of Washington, D.C., Barbara Nichols of Maryland; three sons, Willie Nichols of Portsmouth, Arthur Nichols of Windsor, Jimmy Nichols of Coran, N.Y.; five sisters, Alice Johnson of Ivor, Sarah Greene of Newport News, Nellie Johnson and Susie Nichols, both of Wakefield, Louise Cargill of Smithfield; two brothers, Richard Hines of New York and Oliver Hines of South Carolina; 27 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a very special friend, Prince Albert Artis of Richmond.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Ebenezer Baptist Church by the Rev. William J. Smith. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday in Crocker Funeral Home and other times at the residence. The body will lie in state from 11:30 a.m. until the hour of the service. There will be no other viewing after the service begins.
