LAURENCE E. DAVIS

Laurence Edward Davis of the 800 block of Stell Court died Oct. 30, 1996.

He was born in Denver on May 24, 1948. He graduated from Evergreen High School, Evergreen, Colo., in 1966. Mr. Davis enlisted in the Navy in 1966 and retired as senior chief petty officer in April 1990 after 25 years of service to his country. A veteran of the Vietnam era, he receive medals including the Navy Achievement Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, Navy Unit Commendation, Vietnam Service Medal with two stars and a Vietnam Campaign Medal. Larry also received the Presidential Unit Citation.

A resident of Virginia Beach for 23 years, Larry worked at Taylors Do It Center, Virginia Beach. Larry enjoyed many activities including golfing, fishing, cooking, judo, reading and all types of motor sports. Larry was an extrememly devoted husband, father, brother and son who loved life. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, William F. Davis; father-in-law, Raymond Jewel; paternal grandparents, Oscar and Mable Davis. He is survived by his wife, Claudia and daughters, Jennifer and Wendy; his mother, Marie Blackstone of Claremont, Calif.; a brother, David Davis of Justin, Texas; a sister, Deirdre Davis of Oak Harbor, Ohio; a sister and brother-in-law, Cherie and Tom Reetz of Scottsdale, Ariz.; other brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Mary Jewel of Aurora, Ill., and Elaine Tucker of Salt Lake City; along with many nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be Sunday between 3 and 5 p.m. in Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel, Virginia Beach. Graveside services and burial will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Woodlawn Cemetery, Norfolk.
