Ruth Mathews Roark, 80, of the 1800 block of Timberwood Lane, died Oct. 31, 1996, at a local hospital after suffering a major stroke.
She was born in Milo, Mo., and is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Lonnie H. Roark, USN (retired); her son, Cdr. Douglas S. Roark, SC, USN, presently stationed aboard the the USS Arctic (AOE 8); and her daughter, Randi McVay of Ocala, Fla. Her grandchildren are Douglas Scott Roark Jr. and William Mathew Roark of Huntsville, Ala., as well as Zachary Bryce Roark of Hyattsville, Md. Ruth is also survived by a twin sister, Rhoda Smith of Fort Myers, Fla.; sisters, Betty Shriner and Patricia Safbom of Las Vegas, Nev., and Dixie Kopps of Kapoa, Hawaii; and brothers, Jerry Mathews of Las Vegas and Jim Mathews of Newport Beach, Calif.
Mrs. Roark's ashes will be inurned in the Columbarium at Arlington National Cemetery when arrangements can be made. Colonial Crematorium is handling arrangements. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
