DARE LOOKS INTO BREAK-IN AND BROKEN CAR WINDSHIELDS

Dare County officers are investigating the report of a breaking, entering and larceny from a cottage on Shearwater Drive in Duck, Sheriff A.L. ``Bert'' Austin reported Friday.

It was reported on Thursday that someone had entered the cottage and removed electronic equipment with an estimated value of $500 and caused about $100 in damage.

The sheriff's office is also investigating four reports of windshields being broken in the area of Wanchese on Halloween night. In each incident, an object was thrown from a moving vehicle as it met an oncoming vehicle. No one was injured in these attacks.

An arrest was made in one of the incidents. William D. Respass, 16, of Colington, was charged with damage to personal property. He was released to the custody of his mother and is scheduled for trial on Nov. 15 in Manteo District Court.

Austin requests that anyone with information about these incidents call Ray Donofrio at 261-1888.
