The city's community policing unit, along with other police units, completed a reverse sting operation in South Norfolk that resulted in 25 arrests this week.
The sting operation, in which police posed as drug dealers, took place Wednesday. It produced 22 charges of attempting to possess heroin, one charge of attempting to possess marijuana, one charge of cocaine possession and one charge of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, according to Elizabeth Jones, a spokeswoman for the Chesapeake police.
There was also one weapons violation issued to a would-be drug buyer who was caught with a handgun.
The city's special investigations section, bike patrol and K-9 unit also participated, along with the Chesapeake sheriff's department, the commonwealth's attorney's office and Norfolk police.
