George Dyer McKeon, 72, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 1996, in his residence.
He was born Jan. 11, 1924, in Cambridge, Md. He was a retired senior executive vice president for Dauphin Deposit Bank. He was a member of the board of directors for Federated Investors Corp. of Pittsburgh, Pa., and the Duck Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a member of the Zembo Shrine of Harrisburg, Pa. Mr. McKeon graduated from New York University and Brooklyn Law School. He was a veteran, having served as captain in the U.S. Air Force in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was the son of the late Winfield and Mary Catherine Meredith McKeon and the husband of Martha Phillips McKeon.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Laura Harring of Danville, Pa., Jane Kelly Jones of Carlisle, Pa., and Claudia Meadows of Duck; and a granddaughter, Katherine Phillips Kelly of Carlisle.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today at the Duck Volunteer Fire Department with the Rev. Charles Gill officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dare County Libraries, P.O. Box 1000, Manteo, N.C. 27954, or the Dare County Food Bank, 12 Sixth Ave., Southern Shores, N.C. 27949. Twiford Colony Chapel, Manteo, is handling arrangements.
