Derothy Layden Pendleton, 93, formerly of the Weeksville area, died Friday Nov. 1, 1996, at Winslow Memorial Home.
She was a native of Perquimans County, N.C. and a member of Newbegun United Methodist Church. She was the daughter of the late Tom and Cora Felton Layden and the widow of Richard Carroll Pendleton.
Survivors include three daughters, Melba P. Norrell, Janet Savin and Cora Barefield, all of Elizabeth City; three sisters, Roxie Jones and Mildred McIntosh, both of Jacksonville, Fla., Mildred Armstrong of Bristol, Va.; three brothers, Tulley Layden of Elizabeth City, N.C., Johnny Layden of Jacksonville, Henry Layden of Florida; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Melba P. Norrell, 1920 Nixonton Road, Elizabeth City. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today in Highland Park Cemetery with the Rev. John Luton officiating. Twiford's Memorial Chapel, Elizabeth City, is handling arrangements.
