BEDFORD B. TATE

Bedford ``Buck'' Boyd Tate, 69, of the 100 block of St. Brides Road West, died Friday, Nov. 1, 1996, at his residence.

Mr. Tate was born in Old Princess Anne County, Va., the son of the late Daniel McGilvery and Hagar Ives Tate. He was a member of Hickory United Methodist Church, where he was a trustee for many years, and was a member of the Hickory Ruritan Club for 40 years. He was a retired inspector with the Virginia Department of Transportation and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Tate is survived by his wife, Anne Foreman Tate of the home; a son, Kim B. Tate of Church's Island, N.C.; a daughter, Teri Henney of Moyock, N.C.; two brothers, Wilson F. Tate of Portsmouth and Edward L. Tate of Denver, Colo.; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Hickory United Methodist Church, Chesapeake, with the Rev. Tom Mercer officiating. A private interment will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends at the home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Hickory United Methodist Church Building Fund, 2708 S. Battlefield Blvd., Chesapeake, Va. 23322, or Hospice of Chesapeake, c/o Comfort Care Home Health Service, 1278 Progressive Drive, Suite 201, Chesapeake, Va. 23320.
