Senior chief James T. Rankin, 40, U.S. Navy, died Oct. 28, 1996.
Sr. Chief Rankin, a cryptologic technician with surface warfare qualification, had served 21 years in the Navy. He was a native of Hatboro, Pa., where his mother, Maureen Rankin, still resides. He was preceded in death by his father, James T. Rankin III.
Along with his mother, he is survived by his wife, Gwynn Rankin; his children, Melissa Gwynn Rankin and James T. Rankin III; four brothers; and a sister.
Viewing will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Chambers Funeral Home, Riverdale, Md. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Fort Myer Chapel.
