Ruby R. Holmes, 81, formerly of Norfolk, died Nov. 1, 1996, in Macon, Ga.
Born in Spartanburg, S.C., she was the widow of Henry F. Holmes. A homemaker, Mrs. Holmes was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and a member of the Mt. Pleasant Senior Citizen Group. She was a retired nurse's assistant and member of the Moose.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha Duncan of Lizella; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Eber N. Petty and Mary Laugher Petty.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, by Dr. Paul C. Lawson. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Bus Fund, 5455 Mt. Pleasant Church Road, Macon, Ga. 31206.
